Overview
QSP Financials Manager is a large-scale FMIS of unsurpassed speed, capacity, and flexibility. This is complimented by deeply integrated Cognos reports and analytics to provide transparency to management.IBM, represents the face of the solution to the corporate community. It provides non-technical and non-accounting management with complete transparency into the processes, performance, and resources managed within the system.
Our Cognos development provides diverse enterprise reporting such as financial ratios and KPIs, variance analysis, debtor analysis, project cost tracking, and email distribution of forms. They all reside within a centralized Corporate Information Centre.
The Web of Browsable Business Content is our most recent addition to this functionality. It’s a newspaper-style summary of financial status, significant components, and processing per business unit. Most descriptions can be drilled through for summary reports and most numbers can be browsed for full transactional detail.
By using Cognos, we are able to unlock the full description and significance of transactions that originate from enterprise systems. Allowing financial transactions to be viewed in the context of the source systems makes them more meaningful for non-technical business users. Clients such as federal government agencies, airlines, and financial services providers rely on our solution.

Architecture
The solution architecture is n-tier. The QSP user interface is a Java or HTML client. The client communicates with the FMIS (the application tier), which in turn works with a relational database server.The Cognos portion of the solution has been developed and refined over six years of business intelligence development by QSP. It is available for various versions of the Cognos platform. The Cognos infrastructure leverages QSP’s highly optimized structure of detail and summary tables to ensure figures are always up to date and readily available.
Hierarchies and options from the FMIS system are used in Cognos modeling to ensure consistency of all structures. The GL cube in particular is highly robust and fully faithful to the QSP system structures.
All reports are defined based on our meta-layer, which makes construction of queries and definition of report content both reliable and simple. The highly detailed, intuitive, Plain English description of the system of record has been created through use of QSP’s own repository.
IBM Cognos 8 Business Intelligence allows us to ship and maintain a master version of the core meta-layer, which can be extended and tailored by the client in a separate layer using the model segmentation features of Framework Manager.
