Overview
Security is essential to any business intelligence solution. With that in mind, Cognos has partnered with Motio, Inc. to simplify the construction of IBM Cognos custom authentication providers and reduce risk, development time, and cost.
IBM Cognos ReportNet and IBM Cognos 8 BI support the implementation of custom Java-based authentication providers. They enable the technology to point at a customer specific source for authentication and authorization. For example, security credentials may be stored in a proprietary database or in some security system, not supported by Cognos out-of-the-box.
Motio has incorporated best practices to create the MotioCAP generic framework. The solution allows organizations to implement a full custom authentication provider quickly and efficiently.

Features
The MotioCAP framework stores security credentials in a custom database, Web Services API, or proprietary Java API for accessing security information. The bridge and adapter incorporate special, single sign-on requirements and allow users to enter credentials other than just user name and password (e.g., district, division, SSO tokens).
MotioCAP also adapts LDAP configurations not supported by the IBM Cognos out-of-the-box LDAP provider and integrates with the PeopleSoft Security Store.

MotioCAP runs as a plug-in to the IBM Cognos 8 content manager and authentication services.
