Cognos President and CEO to Present at Computerworld's Business Intelligence Perspectives Conference
Industry Leader to Discuss "The Next Hard Problem" in Business Decision-Making
Ottawa, Ontario and Burlington, Massachusetts, September 28, 2004 Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in enterprise business intelligence (EBI) and corporate performance management solutions, today announced that Rob Ashe, president and chief executive officer of Cognos, will speak at Computerworld's upcoming Business Intelligence Perspectives conference on September 29 at 9:30 a.m. PST at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort in Palm Desert, California.
During the session entitled, "The Next Hard Problem: Corporate Decision Making Systems," Mr. Ashe will lead attendees through the elements of successful corporate decision making systems being adopted by industry leading organizations. Mr. Ashe will discuss the system's role in facilitating corporate alignment, providing visibility into key business drivers, driving high-level participation and operationalizing decision-making.
In his role as president and chief executive officer of Cognos, Rob Ashe is responsible for the strategic vision, direction and day-to-day leadership of the company. Mr. Ashe is a Cognos veteran, who joined the company in 1984 and has previously held senior positions in finance, operations, research and development, and worldwide services. During his most recent tenure as chief operating officer, Mr. Ashe oversaw the company's entry into the corporate performance management market, the successful acquisition of Adaytum, and the launch of the next-generation enterprise reporting solution, Cognos ReportNet.
Designed to educate executives about the importance of business intelligence, the Computerworld's Business Intelligence Perspectives gathers top executives to examine the industry's major issues and challenges. Discussions will focus on practical strategies for planning, designing and building the BI infrastructure; first-hand experience for understanding and addressing the critical business challenges for BI success; and implementation methodologies.
