Toshiba America Medical Systems Selects Cognos EBI Series for Its Corporate Marketing Intelligence Initiative

BURLINGTON, MA, August 11, 2004— Cognos (Nasdaq: COGN; TSX: CSN), the world leader in business intelligence (BI) and corporate performance management, announced today Toshiba America Medical Systems (TAMS) has selected Cognos ReportNetT and the entire Cognos EBI Series. Toshiba will use Cognos to support a wide variety of corporate marketing initiatives.

After a rigorous evaluation of other BI solutions, Toshiba selected Cognos to help manage a wide variety of customer oriented information and metrics. The pure Web Cognos EBI Series will enable key Toshiba decision-makers to create rich compound reports with data drawn from a wide array of sources. TAMS will leverage Cognos' integrated dashboarding, scorecarding, event management, analysis and enterprise reporting to build a comprehensive multidimensional view around its customers.
